Dr. Obaidullah Khokhar leads the inauguration of additional classrooms at a transgender school, emphasizing empowerment and education for transgender students in South Punjab.

In a groundbreaking move towards inclusivity and empowerment, the Secretary of School Education in South Punjab, Dr. Obaidullah Khokhar, recently led the inauguration of two additional classrooms at the transgender school housed within Government Girls Comprehensive Higher Secondary School, Gulgasht. This initiative is part of the governance and empowerment program of the School Education Department South Punjab, supported by various social organizations.

Dr. Khokhar, accompanied by dignitaries such as Additional Secretaries Syeda Saroosh Fatima Sheerazi and Khawaja Mazhar-ul-Haq, highlighted the significant progress made through the Trans Education Project. Starting in a single room three years ago, the project has enabled transgender students to excel in their matriculation and intermediate exams. To further their economic independence, vocational training programs in tailoring, dress designing, and beautician courses have been introduced.

The event was attended by key figures including Hina Chaudhry, the Section Officer/Trans Education Focal Person, Khawaja Mazhar Nawaz Siddiqui from Irtiqa Foundation, and Ghulam Mustafa, CEO of Farmers Development Organization. The contributions of these organizations in supporting the construction of new classrooms, vocational labs, and solar systems were acknowledged by Dr. Khokhar.

With a firm commitment to the education and empowerment of transgender students, the School Education Department South Punjab aims to further integrate this community into society through ongoing initiatives.
