IGP Dr. Usman Anwar Leads Punjab's Drug Crackdown

Intelligence-based operations in Punjab, spearheaded by IGP Dr. Usman Anwar, have gained momentum with a recent surge in raids on drug-dealers' hideouts. In a remarkable display of law enforcement, 287 raids were carried out in a single day, resulting in the apprehension of 119 individuals and the confiscation of significant quantities of illegal substances.

During these raids, law enforcement authorities seized 54kg of charas, 310g of ice, and 1,083 litres of liquor, dealing a significant blow to the illicit drug trade in the region. This intensified crackdown is part of the ongoing efforts to make Punjab drug-free and ensure the safety and well-being of its residents.

Since the launch of the Drug Free Punjab campaign on February 26, law enforcement agencies have conducted a total of 25,935 raids on drug dealers' hideouts. These operations have led to the apprehension of 12,603 individuals involved in illegal activities, further bolstering the fight against drug trafficking in the region.

The diligent efforts of the authorities have resulted in the recovery of substantial quantities of illicit substances, including 7,733kg of charas, 134kg of heroin, over 267kg of opium, more than 37kg of ice, and 154,414 litres of liquor. These seizures underscore the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combatting drug-related crimes and ensuring the safety and security of Punjab's residents.
