The Department of Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control in Sindh has taken a significant step towards modernizing the vehicle registration process by introducing a state-of-the-art biometric registration and queue management system. This innovative system aims to enhance efficiency and security in vehicle registration procedures.

Recently inaugurated by Sindh Senior Minister SharjeelInamMemon at the Excise Motor Registration Wing office in Karachi, this new system reflects the government's commitment to leveraging technology for public convenience. President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's vision of a tech-savvy administration is being realized through such initiatives.

The advanced biometric systems are designed to combat fraud and elevate the accuracy of vehicle registration by linking it to biometric data, ensuring a secure and tamper-proof registration process. Moreover, these systems offer streamlined processing, online appointment scheduling, and reduced waiting times. Notably, special provisions have been made for women with a dedicated office and extended operational hours at the District South office. Home vehicle registration services are also available for a nominal fee, enhancing accessibility for all.

Despite facing challenges such as a staff shortage due to a court order on recruitment, Minister Memon highlighted the Excise Department's commitment to providing a user-friendly experience. The department's crackdown on non-custom-paid vehicles and vehicles with incorrect number plates underscores its dedication to enforcing regulations. Furthermore, plans to introduce tracker chips for bikes demonstrate a proactive approach towards enhancing vehicle security.

The event, attended by senior officers including Secretary Excise Sindh Saleem Rajput and DG Excise Aurangzeb Akbar Panhwar, recognized exemplary staff for their contributions. This initiative signifies a significant leap towards modernizing public services in Sindh and improving the operational efficiency of the Excise Department.
