Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited recently carried out a rigorous crackdown on gas pilferers, resulting in the disconnection of 1199 connections and the imposition of a hefty total fine amounting to Rs 45.6 million. The crackdown targeted various regions across Pakistan, including Lahore, Multan, Peshawar, Sheikhupura, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Mardan, Faisalabad, Gujrat, and Sahiwal, where multiple connections were found to be engaged in illegal gas usage and compressor operations.

During the operation, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) took action by disconnecting 1199 connections in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad, with fines totaling Rs 45.6 million being imposed on the gas pilferers. In Lahore, 11 connections were disconnected for illegal gas use, 4 for compressor use, and a fine of Rs 0.21 million was levied. Similarly, in Multan, 10 connections were disconnected for illegal use, 2 for compressor use, while in Peshawar, 77 connections were disconnected for direct and illegal gas use, with a fine of Rs 2.64 million imposed.

One of the most significant actions took place in Sheikhupura, where 843 connections were disconnected for illegal use, 228 for compressor use, resulting in a substantial fine of Rs 38.91 million and the lodging of 38 FIRs. In Bahawalpur, 2 connections were disconnected for illegal use, 4 for compressor use, with a fine of Rs 2.21 million. In Gujranwala, 4 connections were disconnected for illegal use, with a fine of Rs 0.94 million. In Mardan, 11 connections were disconnected for illegal use, with a fine of Rs 0.69 million. In Faisalabad, 2 connections were disconnected for illegal use, with a fine of Rs 0.038 million. Gujrat saw a fine of Rs 0.0002 million imposed, while in Sahiwal, 1 connection was disconnected for illegal use.
