Pakistan Cracks Down on Power Pilferage, Recovers Billions

Authorities in Pakistan have been actively pursuing individuals involved in power pilferage, resulting in a significant collection of 86 billion rupees nationwide. Over 65 thousand individuals have been apprehended in connection with these illegal activities.

During the latest crackdown, a total of 0.202 billion rupees were recovered in the cities of Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, and Islamabad. Additionally, 0.128 billion rupees were seized from Peshawar, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Quetta.

The concerted efforts to combat power theft have led to a substantial financial impact, with the recovered funds contributing to the country's revenue and deterring future instances of pilferage. The strict enforcement measures underscore the government's commitment to ensuring fair and lawful distribution of electricity.

Power pilferage has long been a challenge in Pakistan, with unauthorized connections and tampering with meters prevalent in various parts of the country.
