A resident of Wolverhampton finds a marmoset in her conservatory, mistaken for a baby fox. Volunteers rescue the primate, emphasizing the unsuitability of urban environments for such animals.

A resident of Wolverhampton got the surprise of her life when she discovered a South American monkey, the size of a large cat, in her conservatory. Initially mistaken for a baby fox, the animal turned out to be a marmoset, a primate native to South America.

Volunteer Gemma Warner, from Wings and Paws, recounted the incident, stating that the woman described the animal as small with a bushy tail, leading them to believe it was a squirrel or a baby fox. However, they were shocked to find a marmoset in the kitchen, hungry and in need of care.

It is suspected that the marmoset may have been a pet that was abandoned or released by its owner. The primate, named Marcel, is now under the care of an animal rescue center as efforts are underway to find him a suitable home.

Gemma emphasized the importance of rescuing Marcel, noting that the cold weather in Wolverhampton could have been fatal for him. Marmosets typically feed on sap, gum from trees, insects, frogs, and baby birds, making the urban environment of Wolverhampton an unsuitable habitat for them.

In a heartwarming turn of events, Marcel is now safe and receiving the care he needs, thanks to the swift action taken by the authorities and volunteers involved in his rescue.
