Zahid Chanzeb lauds efforts in Bahrain-Kalam highway restoration

Adviser to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tourism and Culture, Zahid Chanzeb, commended the swift response of relevant departments in opening the Bahrain-Kalam highway to alleviate the plight of local and foreign tourists stranded due to landslides near Bahrain. He expressed hope for the widening of the affected highway section to prevent future disruptions.

Chanzeb acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the relief and tourism department, district administration, and rescue and security agencies in tirelessly working to clear the highway and safely evacuate stranded individuals through alternative routes. Emphasizing the need for continued maintenance, he stressed the importance of widening other landslide-prone areas along the highway to ensure uninterrupted tourist flow.

Highlighting the ongoing restoration work, Chanzeb mentioned the utilization of heavy machinery to clear debris and expand the road. He lauded the dedication of officials in safeguarding the highway from potential risks posed by the Swat River and assured that the restoration efforts are progressing efficiently under close supervision.

Anticipating the completion of the restoration by Monday morning, Chanzeb reassured that the widened highway would facilitate smooth passage for tourist vehicles, enhancing travel convenience in the region.
