Heavy rainfall in Landi Kotal, Khyber district leads to tragic consequences, causing structural damage and isolating the area. Relief efforts are underway, but residents express dissatisfaction with the pace of assistance.

Heavy rainfall in Landi Kotal, Khyber district, has led to tragic consequences, with one young girl losing her life and another being injured. The downpour caused multiple incidents of room collapses and boundary wall falls in various areas of the tehsil, disrupting daily life and causing financial losses for residents.

In one devastating event in Bazaar Zakha, a roof collapse resulted in the death of Zainab, the daughter of Qudrat, and left another child wounded. The continuous rain over the past two days has also caused significant damage in Khuga Khel, Shiekhmal Khel, Piro Khel, Shelman, Pased Khel, Khyber Zakha Khel, and nearby villages, leading to numerous reports of structural damage.

The severe weather conditions have washed away link roads along the Pak-Afghan highway, complicating travel for many. Landslides near Anzari checkpoint and Arkhunda point have further isolated Landi Kotal from Loy-Shelman and Kam-Shelman. Additionally, three power pylons have been damaged, although power supply to the affected areas is being maintained by the Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO).

The local administration has initiated relief efforts, distributing tents and other essentials to those impacted by the rain. However, residents have expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of relief operations and are calling for additional assistance. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has warned of more rain in the coming days, heightening concerns for the affected communities.

Khudai Khedmatgar, a local organization, has urged authorities and philanthropic groups to step up relief efforts for the rain-affected population in Khyber. District Salaar Fazal Rehman Afridi highlighted the plight of the tribesmen and criticized the lack of attention from government agencies and organizations. He emphasized the need for immediate relief measures, especially for the vulnerable residents of Landi Kotal who have borne the brunt of the natural disaster.
