Punjab's Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a warning regarding potential heat waves, rain, and storms in the region. The alert, effective until May 18, cautions residents of dusty winds, thunderstorms, and heavy rainfall in several districts of Punjab. Areas like Rawalpindi, Murree, Guliat, Attock, Chakwal, MandiBahauddin, Gujarat, Jhelum, and Gujranwala are expected to be hit by strong winds and heavy rain. Additionally, cities including Lahore, Kasur, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, and Mianwali may experience thunderstorms and rainfall.

The spokesperson highlighted a potential temperature rise of up to 8 degrees this month, with a looming heat wave forecasted from May 21 to 27. During this period, dry and scorching weather conditions are expected, with temperatures soaring 6 degrees above normal levels. DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia stressed the importance of heeding the alert issued by the Punjab Chief Minister, urging both authorities and the public to take necessary precautions against the anticipated extreme weather.

Various departments, including Health, Irrigation, Construction, Communication, Local Government, and Livestock, have been placed on high alert to manage the situation effectively. The Information Department, Punjab Police, and Civil Defense have also been instructed to remain vigilant. Citizens are advised to seek shelter during lightning storms and avoid outdoor activities. In case of emergencies, individuals can contact the PDMA Helpline at 1129 or reach out to Rescue 1122 for assistance.
