USAID launches a $10 million project in Pakistan to enhance climate resilience and sustainability, mobilize finance, and support innovative climate projects.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has initiated the Pakistan Climate Financing Activity, a four-year project with a budget of up to $10 million. This endeavor aims to enhance sustainability and climate resilience in Pakistan, demonstrating the U.S. government's commitment to promoting responsible management of natural resources and addressing the climate crisis.

The USAID Pakistan Climate Financing Activity will play a crucial role in assisting Pakistan's transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy. By providing targeted technical assistance, the initiative seeks to mobilize both domestic and international finance for climate mitigation, resilience, and adaptation efforts.

During the launch event in Islamabad, key stakeholders including representatives from the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, provincial government departments, private sectors, development partners, financial sector decision-makers, and academia were present. USAID Deputy Mission Director Maura O’Brien highlighted the importance of the initiative in supporting innovative projects tailored to Pakistan's needs and building climate resilience effectively.

Special Coordinator Ms. Romina Khurshid from the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination expressed gratitude for the U.S. government's support in strengthening Pakistan's climate resilience, mitigation, and adaptation capabilities. She emphasized the significance of overcoming financial constraints to address climate challenges collectively.

The USAID Pakistan Climate Financing Activity aligns with USAID's global initiative to boost climate investment in vulnerable markets. By facilitating climate finance and encouraging public-private partnerships, this project aims to enhance Pakistan's capacity for climate resilience and adaptation.
