Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah unveils Inclusive City project

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah recently announced plans to create an Inclusive City catering to individuals with disabilities by December 2024. This initiative aims to offer a range of facilities to help integrate differently-abled individuals into society effectively.

The Inclusive City project, discussed during a meeting at CM House, will be developed through a company registered under the Companies Act 2017. Chief Minister Shah directed the chief secretary to identify qualified individuals from the private sector to support in managing the company responsible for overseeing the development of the Inclusive City.

Spanning across 80 acres of land reclaimed from the Malir Expressway project, the Inclusive City will feature specialized amenities designed to meet the unique needs of individuals with disabilities. The project includes an inclusive school, special education and rehabilitation complex, vocational training center, and C-ARTS facility covering 15 acres. Moreover, a general hospital, neuropsychiatry ward, and institute of clinical psychology will occupy another 15 acres. The residential area for individuals with disabilities will span five acres, while a special children's park will cover 40 acres. Lastly, a DEPD office complex will be established on five acres within the Inclusive City.

The establishment of the Inclusive City signifies a significant step towards creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for individuals with disabilities. By providing tailored facilities and services, this project aims to enhance the quality of life and opportunities for differently-abled individuals, promoting their integration into society.
