Chief Secretary Zaman Pushes for IT Modernization in Punjab

In a bid to enhance governance and service delivery in Punjab, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman has issued a stern directive to all departments, commissioners, and deputy commissioners. They have been given a three-month deadline to ramp up their utilization of Information Technology (IT) across the province.

During a recent meeting, CS Zaman emphasized the importance of leveraging IT to streamline public service delivery. He specifically requested detailed information on public services offered and suggestions for ensuring their convenient online accessibility. Zaman highlighted the success of initiatives like E-Filing and Office Automation System (E-FOAS) and an e-procurement regime, which have significantly improved transparency and efficiency.

The Chief Secretary stressed the necessity of transitioning away from traditional file systems towards digital operations. He pointed out that this shift would not only lead to substantial cost savings but also help in combating corruption within departments.

Zaman urged officers to prioritize resolving public grievances and issued directives to expedite the resolution of pending pension cases and departmental inquiries. He underlined the importance of embracing technology to enhance departmental efficiency and improve overall governance in the province.
