The Federal Government and IESCO officials crack down on electricity theft, discovering illegal connections and imposing penalties to maintain power distribution integrity.

Recently, the Federal Government and Energy Minister Power Division Sardar Owais Ahmed Leghari initiated a strict crackdown on electricity theft in the operational areas of IESCO. This operation is being closely monitored by Chief Executive IESCO Dr. Muhammad Amjad Khan to ensure compliance with regulations and prevent illegal activities.

During the weekend, a team led by Executive Engineer Taxila Mr. Shahid Jadoon, in collaboration with local police, conducted an inspection at a crush plant registered under the name of Noor Zaman with a sanctioned load of 149 kW. The inspection revealed that the crush plant was illegally drawing power through a direct connection. As a result, the detection teams, with the assistance of the police, disconnected the unauthorized power supply, collected evidence, and sealed the plant. Furthermore, an individual named Owais was apprehended, and significant fines were imposed by IESCO for the act of electricity theft.

Such crackdowns on electricity theft are essential to maintain the integrity of the power distribution system and ensure fair usage of electricity resources. It is crucial for everyone to abide by the law and regulations to prevent disruptions in the power supply and promote a sustainable energy environment for all.
