Khairpur district has launched a seven-day anti-polio drive to protect children from the crippling disease. The campaign was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Syed Ahmed Fawad at Khairpur Medical College Hospital. Fawad emphasized the importance of community support in ensuring the success of the vaccination effort, echoing the endorsements of medical experts and religious scholars regarding the safety and effectiveness of the oral polio vaccine.

Over 711,000 children under the age of five in eight talukas will receive the vaccine during this campaign. The initiative aims to combat the concerning rise in positive environmental samples of poliovirus in Sindh, which poses a significant threat to children's health. The District Health Officer confirmed that the campaign will run until March 15, with vaccination teams conducting door-to-door visits to administer polio drops. Any missed children will be covered through catch-up activities within the ongoing drive.
