Director of Civil Defence Department stresses fire safety regulations in Karachi

Recently, a devastating incident took place in Karachi, where several lives were lost in a six-story commercial building due to the absence of proper ventilation shafts. This crucial safety measure could have prevented the victims and smoke from being trapped inside the enclosed structure, leading to a tragic outcome.

The director of the Civil Defence Department, Safdar Ali Bghio, emphasized the importance of fire safety regulations in Karachi. He mentioned that each district in the city is well-equipped with a dedicated team responsible for enforcing these regulations. This team includes a deputy controller, additional controller, and a technical team, all working diligently to ensure that buildings adhere to the necessary safety standards to prevent such disasters.

It is essential for all buildings, especially commercial ones, to have proper ventilation systems in place to avoid potential tragedies like the one that occurred in Karachi.
