Federal Energy Minister reaches out to Interior Minister for support in addressing protests at KP grid stations, emphasizing the need for effective law enforcement and collaborative efforts to ensure stability in the energy sector.

On Wednesday, Federal Energy Minister Owais Leghari reached out to Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for immediate support in addressing the recent protests that erupted at grid stations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The minister expressed his concerns in a formal letter to Naqvi, highlighting the failure of local law enforcement to take legal action against those responsible for the disruptions.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) confirmed that similar incidents took place in various KP regions, including Mardan, Charsadda, Tank, Bannu, and Peshawar. These protests have raised significant challenges for the energy sector and have disrupted the normal functioning of the grid stations, impacting the supply of electricity to the residents.

The lack of accountability for the individuals involved in these disturbances has further exacerbated the situation, prompting the government to intervene swiftly to restore order and ensure the smooth operation of the power distribution network in the province.

The recent protests at grid stations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have underscored the importance of effective law enforcement and regulatory measures to maintain stability in the energy sector. The collaborative efforts of federal and provincial authorities are crucial in addressing such incidents promptly and safeguarding the interests of the public. Moving forward, it is imperative for all stakeholders to work together towards enhancing security and resilience in the power infrastructure to prevent similar disruptions in the future.
