FESCO Cracks Down on Power Theft, Imposes Heavy Fines

The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has been relentless in its efforts to curb power theft in the region. Over the last 224 days, FESCO has caught a staggering 7,457 power pilferers, imposing fines totaling over Rs. 777.1 million on them collectively. This crackdown comes as part of FESCO's ongoing campaign to ensure fair distribution of electricity and discourage illegal practices.

According to FESCO spokesman Tahir Sheikh, a total of 17.386 million detection units were charged, leading to the registration of 7,377 cases of power theft in various police stations. The police have taken swift action, arresting 6,105 individuals involved in power pilfering and recovering Rs. 553.4 million from them.

The breakdown of power theft cases reveals the extent of the issue across different circles in the region. In Faisalabad First Circle, 1,763 instances of electricity theft were detected, resulting in a fine of Rs. 190 million. Similarly, FESCO teams caught 1,294 electricity thieves in Faisalabad Second Circle and imposed fines accordingly. The crackdown extended to Jhang, Sargodha, Mianwali, and Toba Tek Singh circles, with fines ranging from Rs. 63.8 million to Rs. 187.5 million based on the scale of power theft.
