Authorities in Multan intensify crackdown on power theft, apprehending thousands and imposing fines for illicit consumption.
In a bid to curb the rampant issue of power theft, authorities in the Multan region have intensified their crackdown on power pilferers. The ongoing drive has already seen the successful apprehension of a staggering 24,431 individuals involved in stealing electricity.
Law enforcement teams have been proactive in registering cases against over 24,000 power pilferers, demonstrating a firm stance against this illegal activity. The collaborative efforts of MEPCO teams and the police force have resulted in the arrest of 20,340 individuals caught red-handed in the act of electricity theft.
Furthermore, a substantial fine amounting to Rs 517 million has been imposed on these offenders for illicitly consuming 39 million units of electricity. This fine has been diligently collected and deposited into the national exchequer, underscoring the commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring accountability.
