Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab launches a massive anti-polio campaign targeting 1.8 million children. Emphasizing parental cooperation under the Immunization Act of 2023, he urges a united effort to eradicate polio and combat city encroachments.

Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab announced on Monday that a massive anti-polio campaign is underway in Karachi, aiming to vaccinate 1.8 million children against the crippling disease. The campaign, launched at SMB Fatima School Garden, will run from April 29 to May 5 under the Sindh Health Department.

Barrister Murtaza Wahab emphasized the importance of parental cooperation, highlighting the Immunization Act passed in 2023, which mandates parents to support polio workers. Non-compliance can lead to legal consequences under Sections 18 and 10 of the act.

Stressing the significance of eradicating polio, Wahab urged media to raise awareness and encourage families to participate in the vaccination drive. He underscored the need for a united effort to safeguard current and future generations from the disease.

Furthermore, Wahab assured that vaccination facilities will be available in KMC-run hospitals to ensure widespread coverage. He also addressed concerns about healthcare services at Jinnah Hospital, promising to investigate any reported issues.

In conclusion, Wahab reiterated the collective responsibility to combat encroachments in the city, emphasizing that this challenge requires a unified approach across all administrative boundaries.
