The Rawalpindi Poultry Research Institute (RPRI) is revitalizing its egg-laying hen program with government support to empower farmers, increase egg production, and ensure affordability.

The Rawalpindi Poultry Research Institute (RPRI) is set to reinvigorate its program of providing egg-laying hens to farmers at reduced prices following the directive from the Provincial Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, and Dairy Development. This initiative aims to assist farmers in lowering production costs, increasing egg output, and making eggs more affordable for consumers. The minister's recent visit to the institute underscored the government's commitment to bolstering the poultry sector in the region.

During the inspection, the minister emphasized the need to boost the population of egg-laying hens to meet the growing demand for eggs in the province. He urged the RPRI to implement strategies focusing on breeding and nutrition programs to enhance the growth of egg-laying hens. Last year, the institute distributed 91,000 sets of chickens to farmers, a figure that the minister intends to surpass this year. Moreover, the RPRI's efforts resulted in the production of 450,000 eggs, leading to the hatching of 240,000 chicks.

As part of his visit, the minister engaged in tree planting on the institute's premises and conducted inspections of the poultry, hatchery, and disease labs. He also inquired about the facilities available to farmers, underscoring the government's dedication to supporting agricultural initiatives in the region.

The resurgence of the egg-laying hen initiative at RPRI signifies a significant step towards empowering farmers, enhancing egg production, and ensuring affordability for consumers. With a focus on sustainable poultry practices and government support, the sector is poised for growth, benefiting both farmers and the wider community.
