Punjab Home Department Initiates Probation Service Reforms

The Punjab Home Department recently convened a significant meeting led by Home Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal to address challenges within the Probation and Parole Service. Director General Shahid Iqbal outlined a comprehensive plan aimed at improving the management of probationers, which includes proposals to raise salary allowances and promote officers to higher grades.

One of the key initiatives involves modernizing the Probation System by integrating the OMIS Probation System with the Police Department and Jail. This move is expected to streamline operations and enhance data accessibility, benefiting over 36,595 probationers by providing instant access to critical information for better decision-making.

To further support the well-being of probationers, partnerships with various institutions are being forged, and online training programs for officers are being introduced across Punjab. Tailored awareness sessions are also being conducted to address the specific needs of probationers.

Addressing staffing concerns, Home Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal stressed the importance of filling vacant positions and prioritizing promotions for eligible officers.
