The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Karachi will meet to observe the Zilhajj moon, predicting Eid ul-Adha 2024 to be celebrated on June 17 in Pakistan.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to meet in Karachi on June 7 to observe the sighting of the Zilhajj moon. Chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad at the Meteorological Department office, the committee will gather to determine the beginning of the Islamic month of Zil-Hijjah. Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz has predicted that the Zil Hajj moon is likely to be visible on June 7, with the crescent expected to appear at 5:38 PM on Thursday. Sarfaraz's confidence in the moon sighting stems from its anticipated age of over 26 hours by that time.

The Meteorological Department has forecasted that Eidul Adha 2024 will be celebrated on June 17 in Pakistan, pending confirmation from the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. If the moon is sighted on June 7, Zul-Hijjah will commence on June 8, leading to Eid ul-Adha falling on June 17, 2024. The government is prepared to declare official holidays from June 17 to 19, although practically, Eid holidays are expected to begin on June 15 due to the closure of offices on Saturdays.

If Zu al-Qa'dah lasts for 30 days, Zil-Hijjah will begin on June 9, resulting in Eid ul-Adha being observed on June 18. This scenario could offer a five-day break for the public in celebration of Eidul Adha.
