The School Education Department in South Punjab launches 'Zero Out of School Children' initiative to provide quality education and support to children, with plans for expansion across Punjab. Supported by JICA and UNICEF, this project aims to ensure universal education access for all children in the region.

The School Education Department (SED) South Punjab has taken a significant step towards ensuring education for all with the initiation of the 'Zero Out of School Children' initiative in six Union Councils (UCs). This groundbreaking project aims to address the issue of children being out of school and provide them with access to quality education.

The project was officially inaugurated by Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab, Fuad Hashim Rabbani, at Government High School Rangeelpur. The event was attended by enrolled children, parents, and key officials, demonstrating the commitment to improving educational opportunities in the region.

ACS South Punjab Fuad Hashim Rabbani emphasized that the pilot project is currently focused on two UCs from Bahawalpur, Layyah, and Multan District each. Data collection through a comprehensive survey has been instrumental in identifying and reaching out to out-of-school children in these areas.

The initiative, supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and UNICEF, provides children with essential items such as uniforms, school bags, and stationery at no additional cost. The Punjab government is closely monitoring the progress of the project, with plans to expand it to other regions of Punjab and Pakistan in the future.

The efforts of the School Education Department (SED) South Punjab in launching this innovative programme have been widely praised. At the conclusion of the ceremony, children were provided with uniforms, school bags, and stationery to support their educational journey, marking a positive step towards achieving universal education in the region.

The 'Zero Out of School Children' initiative in South Punjab is a commendable effort towards ensuring that every child has access to education. By addressing the issue of out-of-school children and providing necessary support, this project is paving the way for a brighter future for the youth of the region.
