Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has announced plans to reclaim over 40 sports grounds belonging to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) that are currently occupied by various organizations and individuals. During a meeting at the KMC Sports Complex, Mayor Wahab emphasized the importance of safeguarding KMC's assets and ensuring they are utilized for the benefit of the citizens.
Mayor Wahab inspected the facilities at the Sports Complex, including the swimming pool, football stadium, tennis court, and bowling alley. He directed officials to expedite the process of recovering the occupied grounds and to enhance recreational facilities for the public.
Furthermore, Mayor Wahab highlighted the need to open the swimming pool at Landhi Sports Complex to the public within seven days. He expressed concern over the lack of income generated by KMC from these grounds and stressed the importance of utilizing them efficiently to enhance KMC's revenue.
Mayor Wahab called for public-private partnerships to support the activation and maintenance of these sports facilities, ensuring that citizens have access to quality recreational amenities. He also instructed officials to expedite the completion of family areas, restaurants, badminton courts, and yoga classes at the Women Sports Complex in Gulshan-e-Iqbal to cater to women's recreational needs.
