FESCO discovered power theft at a plastic factory in Faisalabad, prompting swift action and highlighting the importance of combating electricity pilferage.

Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) recently uncovered a case of power theft at a plastic factory located in the Bandala Subdivision of Faisalabad. The discovery was made during a surprise inspection conducted by a team comprising Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Bandala Akmal Hussain, FESCO officials, and members of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) at a plastic material factory in Chak 97/R-B Adda Johal.

The inspection revealed that the factory owner, Tariq Mehmood, had been illegally siphoning electricity directly from the FESCO transformer through the incoming cables of the three-phase meter installed on the premises. In response to this illicit activity, the FESCO team promptly removed the electricity supply meter from the site, while the FIA initiated an investigation into the matter. A case has been registered against Tariq Mehmood under section 462-1 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) for his involvement in the power pilferage.

This incident underscores the importance of cracking down on electricity theft, which not only poses a significant financial burden on power distribution companies but also compromises the safety and reliability of the electrical infrastructure. FESCO's vigilance in detecting and addressing such cases is crucial for ensuring fair and lawful distribution of electricity to consumers across the region.
