The Federal Investigation Agency in Pakistan has launched a nationwide crackdown on illegal currency exchange activities, resulting in numerous arrests and seizures to uphold the financial system's integrity.

In a significant move to curb illegal currency exchange activities, a nationwide crackdown has been ongoing against individuals involved in hundi and illegal currency exchange in Pakistan. Over the past four months, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has conducted 267 raids targeting such elements across various zones in the country.

The crackdown has resulted in the registration of 269 cases and the arrest of 327 individuals engaged in illegal hawala, hundi, and currency exchange businesses. Different zones, including Peshawar, Kohat, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Islamabad, Karachi, Hyderabad, and Balochistan, have seen cases being registered and culprits being apprehended.

During this period, more than 62 crore 38 lac rupees worth of domestic and foreign currency were seized, with a significant amount in US Dollars and other foreign currencies. Additionally, numerous shops involved in illegal currency trading were sealed as part of the nationwide operation.

Under the leadership of Director General Ahmed Ishaq Jahangir, all available resources are being utilized to capture those involved in illegal currency trading, including international agents. The cooperation of law enforcement agencies has been instrumental in the success of these operations.

The relentless efforts of the FIA underscore the government's commitment to eradicating illegal currency exchange activities and ensuring the integrity of the financial system in Pakistan.
