The Karachi administration has intensified its efforts to combat artificial price hikes during the holy month of Ramzan. On Monday, fines totaling Rs 1,854,000 were imposed on 61 violators for charging higher prices than the government-fixed rates. Officials conducted price checks at 505 locations across different areas of the city, identifying shopkeepers and traders who were not adhering to the prescribed rates.

According to a statement from the Commissioner's office, enforcement actions were carried out in all seven districts of Karachi division. The crackdown targeted individuals engaged in profiteering by not complying with the government's pricing regulations for essential commodities. Commissioner Muhammad Saleem Rajput instructed Deputy Commissioners to accelerate their efforts in penalizing violators to ensure relief for citizens during Ramazan.

Magistrates were instructed to conduct regular inspections of markets, verify price lists, and take decisive action against those involved in hoarding and profiteering. The administration's proactive stance aims to safeguard consumers from unjust price increases and maintain a fair marketplace environment.
