The district administration in Muzaffargarh arrests individuals and imposes fines to combat bread price gouging, ensuring fair pricing practices and consumer protection.

In a recent crackdown by the district administration in Muzaffargarh, nine individuals were arrested for selling bread at inflated prices. The operation was carried out following directives from Deputy Commissioner Mian Usman Ali to tackle the issue of price gouging in the region.

Price control magistrates conducted raids at various locations, including 1884 hotels and tandoors, to inspect the pricing and weight of bread being sold. During the inspections, fines totaling Rs 41,000 were imposed on owners of tandoors, naanbai, and hotels for failing to adhere to the fixed rates set by the authorities.

Additionally, legal action was taken against five individuals who were found to be violating price regulations, leading to the registration of FIRs against them. Furthermore, two hotels were sealed for engaging in the practice of selling bread at exorbitant prices.

This decisive action by the district administration underscores their commitment to ensuring fair pricing practices and protecting consumers from exploitation. By cracking down on those who seek to profit unfairly from essential food items like bread, the authorities are sending a clear message that such practices will not be tolerated.
