Multan District Administration Prepares for Potential Flooding

In anticipation of potential flooding and heavy rains, the district administration in Multan has taken proactive steps to ensure the safety of its residents. Deputy Commissioner Rizwan Qadeer has directed various departments, including Rescue and Civil Defense, to be on high alert. One of the key initiatives is the removal of unauthorized structures along safety embankments to prevent any hindrances during a flood.

At a recent meeting of the District Disaster Management Committee, Deputy Commissioner Rizwan Qadeer stressed the importance of being prepared for any emergency situations. Additional Deputy Commissioner General Revenue Faizan Ahmad Riaz outlined the preparations being made, with a Flood Mock exercise planned at Chenab river on May 30 to test the district's response capabilities.

To address the risk of urban flooding, efforts have been made to enhance the capacity of WASA disposal stations. The health department is also gearing up to launch an extensive awareness campaign to educate the public about the dangers of heatwaves. Additionally, a thorough inspection of machinery and equipment across all departments is about to begin to ensure operational readiness.
